Birthplace of the Bourbons

Named after their place of birth, the Ile de Bourbon, an island in the southern Indian Ocean, this is a diverse family, from shrubs of around three feet to vigorous climbers.

Flowers from a varied palette are usually scented some of them heavily, and are generally double in formation. Most repeat or continue to flower throughout the summer months and often into autumn. This is a reliable family with some very famous varieties as members.
